Ear Cave

This was probably the most adventurous thing I will EVER do in my life - exploring a bat cave! I actually did it, got the T-shirt! It was one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that not everyone has the stomach to try. "Insect" bats were the species of bats that were in this cave, and our guide took us deep into this cave (about 3:30 p.m.) where we had to literally crawl on our hands and knees, with flashlights (otherwise it would have been pitch dark), slide down slippery rocks, until we came across hundred of small bats hanging from rocks. One of the most incredible sights. There was also a giant 8" frog and a 3' white snake curled on a crevice. I can't believe I did this ..... and, this cave is visited by hundreds of people each week. Well.......it's up to you, now! Getting to the cave (Gua = ear; Telinga= cave) by a wooden river boat.

I thought we were "out" after 10 minutes when I saw some sunshine, but we still had another cave to go through - where there were 'MORE" bats waiting :-(
Isn't this is 'amazing' ....... however, I recall not quite using that word when I saw this.........

We're OUT! Let's just say that we were all relieved that THAT experience was over! Emma, part of our group, climbing out from the cave.
