Kapas Island, Malaysia's east coast

Malaysia in French....written in the sand using coral washed up from the South China Sea. This island is a favourite with tourists from France, Germany and Denmark.
Pulau Kapas, a tiny island off the EAST coast of Malaysia, near Kuala Terengganu. Surrounded by blue-green crystal clear waters, a coral reef perfect for snorkelers and scuba-divers, totally quiet except for the waves that roll toward the beach - peace and tranquility at its best.
Dropped off at the pier by speed boat, took the sandals off, and wandered toward our small chalet for a long-weekend getaway. Aren't the waters amazing!
Didn't stay at this tree house chalet - they were none available. Prices ranged from $25 - $100 Canadian converted, depending on the interior. Most of them had coral interior walls, redwood floors, canopied beds, and balconies overlooking a gorgeous sight of the South China Sea. I think I'm going back!
Some more scenery on my walks along the shore.
Staircases around the rocks make it manageable and convenient to walk around the island.
I love it here - no need to have more than a sarong and a bathing suit. Yup, can get used to this!
More staircases around the beach.
Not sure what this plant is....had the strangest willowy plant inside.
Limestone colours are extraordinary.
What's a beach holiday without a drink or two to refresh - ahhhhh, life's a beach!
Sitting on the exterior balcony of an authentic, aboriginal longhouse, now converted to a hostel accommodating travelers and backpackers who are ok with staying in a dorm-type room. Not for everyone - but its getting back to basics when $$ (at $10/head/night) works for you.
One of the interiors of the tree-house chalet. Notice the rock and coral walls. Incredible. All handmade. It took the owner 7 years to complete 7 chalets.

And this is a shot of the balcony of the tree-house chalet, complete with swinging chair. Do you ever need to leave this place?
Another view of the chalets built into the hill, overlooking the sea.
Our little A-frame chalets, complete with bed and bathroom, no A/C, no TV, and no room service. Who needs any of that?
No words to describe this one!
And of course, snorkeling was the best. Corals and fish in a multitude of colours, shapes and sizes. Another incredible sight - another world under the sea. I've made up my mind to take scuba-diving lessons, and take my open dive at one of the other islands in the area.
Enjoying the island......absolutely loved it!
Last but not least....a popular Malaysian 'tea' drink called Teh Tarik. The tea is mixed with a combination of condensed milk and 'pulled' to create a foam - tastes wonderful!
